1.6 Positionality and Rationale
This paper is informed by my perspective as an autistic individual. I am also aware of potential counterarguments regarding the generalizability of lived experience, the challenges of maintaining objectivity, and the need to engage with established academic norms. The following sections will address these concerns directly, grounding the Monotropic Expansion model in both theoretical rigor and the authentic insights derived from navigating an autistic cognitive experience.
Furthermore, it will be argued that some of these counterarguments, and many prevailing academic norms, reflect a prevailing polytropic bias within the field, which this model seeks to challenge.
